Merchandise (where to buy Beagle items)
Please note: as I am located in the US, most of my information is about US-based retailers. I am not affiliated with or in any way endorsing listed companies.

Books (in print)

The following books are still in print as of the time of this writing, and thus can be obtained at your local bookstore or from one of the many online retailers.

The Innkeeper's Song
The Rhinoceros Who Quoted Nietzsche...and other odd acquaintances
The Last Unicorn (has never been out of print)
Giant Bones
A Fine and Private Place
The Unicorn Sonata
Peter S. Beagle's Immortal Unicorn
In the Presence of the Elephants
Tamsin
A Dance for Emilia

Books (out of print)

Unfortunately, many of Beagle's works are out of print, and in some cases have been for decades. However, I had very good luck with some online and offline secondhand book dealers, and they're a must if you're trying to find that rare first edition.

Some good places to try and track these books down:

Advanced Book Exchange
Bibliofind
Ebay Auctions
Your local library

Movies and videos

The Last Unicorn animated movie was released on beta and VHS. The VHS version is still available at retailers, usually for around $14.00 US. Try your favorite online retailer, eBay, or your local video store.

Laserdisc availability rumor: "I know a couple of years back this was released on LD. Even saw it for rent at a video shop. But I think it's now out of print. The Internet Movie Database says is was released in PAL in '94 and in the U.S. in '86. But that can't be right. I seem to recall someone telling about its LD release in 91 (when I was hunting for the soundtrack)." - from a Usenet postee.

The Lord of the Rings animated movie was released on beta, VHS, and recently on VCD (Video CD) which supposedly can be played on most computers and some DVD players. It is NOT still available at retailers. However, there are usually several copies on eBay, and many video stores have a copy.

Sarek, episode #71 of Star Trek: The Next Generation, was released on VHS and laserdisc. The VHS version is still available at retailers, usually for around $14.00 US. Try your favorite online retailer, eBay, or your local video store. The Laserdisc version was a 2 episode set, paired with episode #72 - "Menage a Troi". The Laserdisc is currently out of stock and can probably special ordered; Borders lists the retail price at $34.98. Also, check your local TV listings for details.

A Whale of a Tale: Ariel's Undersea Adventures #1 was released on VHS (also includes the episode "Urchin") and on Laserdisc (also includes the episode "Stormy the Wild Seahorse"). Most retailers list it as out of stock; however, Yahoo! Shopping currently has a retailer who carries the VHS tape.

Music and audio

The soundtrack to The Last Unicorn animated movie was released on CD and cassette teape. The CD version is still available as an import at retailers, usually for around $28.00 US. Do not be scammed by people in online auctions selling this for $45 - you can get it elsewhere! Try Amazon.com or other online retailers.

There was a spoken word recording of Peter Beagle reading The Last Unicorn on audio cassette - I do not currently know of a retailer who carries it, but there are occasionally copies available on eBay.

There was a spoken word recording of Peter Beagle reading Come, Lady Death and Lila the Werewolf on audio cassette - I do not currently know of a retailer who carries it.

Peter Beagle - Live! (recording from Bayfilk 3) is a live cassette recording of Peter Beagle playing his filk songs at the Bayfilk 3 Convention in San Jose, California (1986). This recording can be purchased from Firebird Arts or Random Factors.

Unicorn Production CelMovie Cels

There are a few online retailers who occasionally have original movie cel animations from The Last Unicorn animated movie:

Ed Noonchester Artwork
Usagi's House

Other Items

There have been an assortment of other items produced, mostly for The Last Unicorn animated movie in 1982. These items are not easy to find, although your best bet is probably scouring online auction sites such as eBay. While The Last Unicorn animated movie is not technically anime, many of the retailers who have merchandise are also anime dealers.
